Meet CHEF JONATHAN

With over 20 years of experience in catering and event planning, Chef Jonathan Mathias brings a seasoned eye, refined technique, and creative soul to every celebration. A proud graduate of the Culinary Institute of America (Class of 1981, with honors), Jonathan’s career has been defined by excellence in both execution and education. As a former teaching fellow at the CIA, he mentored apprentice chefs in wine selection, dining room management, and table-side preparation, passing on his passion for the craft.

Jonathan’s style is ingredient-driven and instinctive. He scours local farmers markets and hand-picks unique, peak-season produce and proteins—always in pursuit of flavor, color, and balance. Whether he's carving tableside or curating wine pairings, Jonathan's approach is immersive, memorable, and full of personality.

His attention to detail and dedication to client satisfaction have earned A Dash of Salt the distinction of being named Best Caterer on the Gold Coast—twice in the past decade.
